Mrs. Mabel Gross, 85, of Rt. 1, a native of Wingate, died at 4:30 a.m. today in Home Hospital Lafayette. She had been a patient five days. Mrs. Gross and her husband, Lawrence, were owners and operators of a farm north of here. She had lived in the community all her life. She was a member of Pleasant Hill United Church of Christ for more than 50 years.Mrs. Gross was also a member of the Ladies Guild and Wingate American Legion Auxiliary. She attended the Wingate schools. She was born Feb 9, 1889, a daughter of Newton and Laura Coon DeVoss. She married Lawrence Gross on Dec. 23, 1914. Surviving with the husband are four sons, Daniel, Homer and Don of Wingate, and Robert of Indianapolis; 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson and a sister. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Servies--Thomas Funeral Home at Waynetown with the Rev. Homer Hunsinger officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Sunday.  --- thanks muches to Beth R for the typing :)
